Sistine Chapel Style at Early Mountain

Featured Photo Shoots

This drop-dead gorgeous editorial comes to us from Photography by Jo and Lemon Drop Events. With over-the-top florals from Cedar and Lime Collective and Italian-inspired linens from Argent Events, the shoot puts a fresh spin on a winery wedding and presents the best of Virginia’s wedding style.

Early Mountain Vineyard

Early Mountain’s historic buildings, beautiful views, and lush greenery make it a perfect choice for a wedding inspired by Renaissance art. Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Early mountain is only an hour and a half from the heart of Fairfax. This all-inclusive venue offers both outdoor and indoor ceremony spots along with sunsets and mountain views.

The antiqued warmth, texture, and color of the Sistine Chapel inform the custom stationery by Knot & Hound used in the flatlays, tabletop, and letter writing. The stationery harkens back to the world of the painting—itself a character in its own right. Painterly touches, velvets, and wax further immerse potential guests in this other world.

We explored high femininity, delicate touch, and found inspiration in Renaissance art for this editorial. Brush strokes, naturalistic elements, and symbolic notes are the bedrock of this artistic expression.

The inspiration the team took from Renaissance art in designing this editorial wedding is clearly seen in the photos captured by Photography by Jo.

The venue’s main event space, with its statement fireplace in painted brick and expansive, wood-grilled windows, works perfectly with the natural textures and tones of the wedding design. The space accommodates up to 200 wedding guests, and the soft colors and drapery are a fresh, soothing take on Virginia’s rustic mountain style.

The receptions tables were covered in peach damask linens from Argent Events, and topped with their Momenti dinner plates over Luna Champagne chargers.

Every detail matters when approaching wedding design—intricate, timeless gowns by Clair Pettibone, tactile photographs, and fruit incorporated into the florals all add to the world of the wedding.
